Four significant monasteries in upper Haa—Yangthang, Katsho, Dranadingkha, and Takchu goenpas—are visible from the one-day hiking trek, which also means that you can have a grand view of the whole Haa valley. This is one of the most sought hike even by the local people.
The trip, which begins at Yangthang Goenpa or Wangtsa Village passes through a dense pine forest, which offers a bird’s-eye perspective of Haa Valley. It crosses through Juney Drak, Katsho, and Yanthang goenpas and gradually climbs to 3,150 meters above sea level. For a day hike, Haa Panorama Hiking is excellent. The dense forest can be cycled through, if you are a cyclist or a motorist.
In roughly five hours, the 11-kilometer stretch is covered. With two departure locations in between, the route connects the two gewogs of Katsho and Bji. Hikers can leave from Katsho goenpa and Juney Dra if they are unable to complete the Hike.
The trail has two canopies, a bazam, 15 log bridges and a picnic spot with a hot stone bath.
