If you are unable to trek to Tiger Nest, another option is to visit Dzongdrakha, which is perilously perched on the brow of a mountain and equally stunning from a visual standpoint as Tiger Nest. It is one of several local locations where Guru Rinpoche defeated local demons and exudes an aura from another world. Four shrines honoring Tara, Tsheringma (Goddess of Longevity), Guru Rinpoche, and Maitreya, the Buddha of the Future, are located throughout the monastery.
Bondey and Dzongdrakha can be reached by car in 20 minutes along the Paro-Haa highway. You might need to walk for additional fifteen minutes through some historic homes after leaving your automobile parked. Additionally, the Paro Bondey valley may be seen well from here.
The greatest treasure of Dzongdrakha Lhakhang is a crystal stupa (chorten) that is as long as an arrow and egg-shaped relics of Sangay Youelsum (karshapa). The crystal stupa was given the name Chorten Karmogyel because it is said that the relic used to tremble on lucky days. The immovable statue of Buddha Sakyamuni is also housed there.
Don’t forget to go to the cave where the founder of the Lhakhang, Drubthog Gyonpo Dorji, used to meditate. It offers a calming spiritual atmosphere. The area is also not very touristic, allowing you to really appreciate the peace and quiet on your own.
